AUTHOR GUIDELINES

A. General Requirements

The minimum standard requirements of AXIOM : Jurnal Pendidikan dan Matematika are:

  1. Original research article that contributes to the development of mathematics and mathematics education, in accordance with the journal’s Focus and Scope.
  2. Written in Indonesian or English. Since Volume 13, Number 1 (2024), all accepted manuscripts are published in English. Authors of accepted manuscripts written in Indonesian are required to provide an English version before publication.
  3. Submitted through the OJS using AXIOM template. Manuscripts that do not follow this procedure and the template will be rejected.
  4. File format is Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx). PDF files are not accepted.
  5. Page setup: A4, single column, 2.5 cm margins, at least 10 pages and 4,000 words. Body text is Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.15 spacing, 0.75 cm first-line indent. Headings use Tahoma as specified in the template. Manuscripts longer than 15 pages (counted in the AXIOM template) are charged an additional page fee, as described in Article Processing Charge.
  6. Tables, figures, and formulas are numbered, captioned, and mentioned in the text by number. Software output (e.g., SPSS) must be rewritten as a table.
    • Formulas. Use the equation tool. Formulas are centered, numbered at the right margin, and cited in the text as Formula (1). Explain the symbols below the formula, aligned left, after “Notes:”.
    • Tables. Place tables in or after the text that discusses them. The caption is written above the table, justified, in Times New Roman 11 pt, in the form “Table 1. Caption”, with each word capitalized except conjunctions. Table text is 10 pt (smaller only if necessary). Rewrite software output such as SPSS into a table that follows these rules.
    • Figures. Figures include images, schemes, graphs, and diagrams. The caption is written below the figure, justified, in Times New Roman 11 pt, with one space from the figure, in the form “Figure 1. Caption”.
    • Referring to tables and figures. Every table and figure must be mentioned in the text by number, for example “as presented in Table 1”. Do not write “the table above” or “the figure below”. Highlight the main points, similarities, or differences without repeating the content.

  7. In-Text Citations

     follow APA 7th edition, using the author’s last name and year without page numbers.
    • One author: (Fulan, 2019)
    • Two authors: (Fulan & Fulana, 2019) or Fulan and Fulana (2019)
    • Three or more authors: (Fulan et al., 2019)
    • Several sources in one parenthesis: alphabetical order, separated by semicolons, for example (Fulan, 2019; Fulana & Fulani, 2021)
    • Regulations and government documents: title of the regulation or name of the issuing institution, followed by the year. A long title may be abbreviated in square brackets at the first citation, and only the abbreviation is used afterwards.
    • Avoid double citation such as “Blo (20xx) in Bla (20xx)”; cite the original source. Every work cited in the text must appear in the reference list, and every work in the list must be cited in the text.
  8. Complies with the journal’s policies on publication ethics, plagiarism screening, peer review, article processing charges, and copyright.

B. Structure of the Manuscript

The manuscript must follow this structure:

  1. Title. Tahoma 16 pt, bold, sentence case. Describes the article’s content and does not contain the research location.
  2. Authors and affiliations. Full names without academic titles, each with at least two words. Official institution names (university, province/state, country). Mark the corresponding author with an asterisk (*) and provide the email.
  3. Abstract and keywords. In English, 150–250 words. States the aim, method, results, and implications. No citations, tables, or figures. Maximum 5 keywords.
  4. Introduction. Presents the background, a brief state-of-the-art review of previous studies that justifies the novelty of the article, the research gap, problems or hypotheses (if applicable), the chosen solution, and the research objectives.
  5. Methods. Describes the type of research, time and place, subjects (qualitative) or population and sample (quantitative), the technique for obtaining subjects or samples, the procedure, the instruments (aspects measured, type, form, and evidence of validity and reliability), and the data analysis technique. For experimental research, state the design and the tests and decision criteria; statistical formulas are not needed. For qualitative research, describe how validity and consistency were ensured. Sub-headings may be used. For submissions starting from Volume 16 Number 1 (2027), authors will be asked to state the ethical clearance (ethics committee or authorizing institution, approval number, and year), or the basis for exemption, for research involving human participants.
  6. Results. Presents findings as text, tables, or figures, in the order of the hypotheses (experimental research) or the research questions (qualitative research). Analyze and interpret the results before they are discussed.
  7. Discussion. Connects the findings to the research problem or objectives and to relevant theories, and compares them with previous studies, especially those in the state-of-the-art review, to show agreement or contradiction. Explain why the findings occurred, and keep the discussion tied to the data. Include the practical contribution to mathematics and mathematics education, the limitations, the implications, and opportunities for future research.
  8. Conclusion. One or two paragraphs. It answers the research problem or objective without re-discussing it, presents the conclusion honestly based on the evidence, and gives operational implications or suggestions. Write it as narrative, without bullets or numbering.
  9. Acknowledgement. Optional. Addressed to parties who supported the research, such as sponsors and collaborators.
  10. Declarations. Provide the following items:
    • Author Contribution: the role of each author using the CRediT taxonomy.
    • AI Use Statement: any use of AI tools, following the AI Use Policy, or a statement that no AI tools were used. (Required for submissions starting from Volume 16 Number 1, 2027).
    • Funding Statement: name of the funder, or “No funding”.
    • Conflict of Interest: for example, “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
    • Data Availability Statement: following the Data Availability Policy. (Required for submissions starting from Volume 16 Number 1, 2027).
    • Additional Information: any additional information about the paper.
  11. References. Follow APA 7th edition, using Mendeley or Zotero. At least 25 primary references from the last 8 years, with DOI (https://doi.org/...) where available. Every in-text citation must appear in the list, and vice versa.
