Syamsyida Rozi, Niken Rarasati

Abstract

Abstract

Solving non-linear equations is not always an easy thing to do. Mathematical problems related to non-linear equations can be solved by using numerical methods, and this involves the use of computers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the numerical method was carried out online without using campus facilities such as computer laboratories equipped with tools and software. Therefore, this study aims to create a template for executing numerical methods with algorithms in Microsoft Excel to find solutions to nonlinear equations. This is because Excel is an application that is user-friendly and accessible nowadays, even on smartphones. Through this template, students become more aware of the use of formulas in excel and better master the algorithms of numerical methods. This study applies a development research model. The result of this study is a template for executing numerical method algorithms in Ms. Excel, especially for finding solutions to equations with one variable. In addition, students gain a very good understanding of numerical method algorithms as well as expertise in using Microsoft Excel. Thus, numerical methods can also be executed on applications that are very easily accessible to the academic community, namely Microsoft Excel. All students admitted that the application of numerical methods with algorithms in Microsoft Excel is necessary.
