Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics

Jurnal Manajemen Pendidikan Islam is a scholarly publication presenting research findings in the fields of Education, Management, Islamic Education, Islamic Education Management, and Islamic Guidance and Counseling. Submitted manuscripts must be original and unpublished, either in print or electronically.

The validity of scientific publication ethics applies to all parties involved in the publishing process, including managers, editors, reviewers, partners, readers, and authors. The ethical principles are based on Peraturan Kepala LIPI Nomor 5 Tahun 2014 on Scientific Publication Ethics, which include:

  1. Neutrality – Free from conflicts of interest in the publishing process.
  2. Honesty – Free from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P).
  3. Impartiality – No external interference affecting editorial decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Chief Editor

  • Define the journal's name, scope, periodicity, and accreditation requirements.
  • Determine the editorial board members.
  • Establish relationships between the publisher, editors, reviewers, and other parties.
  • Maintain confidentiality of contributors, authors, editors, and reviewers.
  • Enforce copyright and intellectual property rights regulations.
  • Review journal policies and communicate them to all stakeholders.
  • Develop a code of conduct for editors and reviewers.
  • Ensure regular journal publication.
  • Secure funding for journal sustainability.
  • Build networking and marketing strategies.
  • Improve journal quality.
  • Handle legal and licensing matters.

Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Provide comments to help authors convey their ideas effectively.
  • Ensure manuscripts comply with Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan (EYD) or journal language standards.
  • Continuously improve publication quality.
  • Uphold objectivity and freedom of expression.
  • Issue corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies if necessary.
  • Ensure that manuscripts do not contain sensitive issues and coordinate with the editorial board on controversial content.
  • Address complaints from all parties involved in the publication process.
  • Promote ethical publication practices among researchers.
  • Avoid biased decision-making influenced by personal opinions, authors, or third parties.
  • Encourage authors to refine their work until it meets publication standards.
  • Format manuscripts according to the journal template.
  • Assist the chief editor in finalizing manuscripts before publication.

Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers (Mitra Bestari)

  • Provide objective and unbiased written feedback on the manuscript's scientific merit and contribution.
  • Evaluate whether the manuscript is clear, complete, relevant, and within the journal's scope.
  • Avoid personal criticism or biased comments.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and refrain from discussing or sharing their contents with unauthorized parties.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Website Administrator

The website administrator is responsible for managing the journal's online platform, including:

  • Setting up and maintaining the journal website.
  • Configuring system options and managing user accounts.
  • Registering editors, reviewers, and authors.
  • Managing journal features.
  • Monitoring statistical reports.
