Literasi Hijau sebagai Pendekatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Berbasis Nagari di Sumatera Barat
Abstract
Green literacy is the ability to understand the impact of human actions on the environment and apply that knowledge to support sustainable development. In the context of Community Service (PKM), green literacy is a strategic approach to increase public awareness and participation in maintaining environmental sustainability. This article aims to examine the meaning, implementation strategies, and objectives of green literacy in village-based PKM activities in West Sumatra. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach through a literature review of various relevant scientific sources. The results of the study indicate that green literacy plays a significant role in shaping the knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of environmentally conscious communities. The implementation of green literacy can be done through the provision of collections and sources of environmental information, training in waste management and recycling, the use of digital technology, collaboration with village governments, schools, and communities, and the implementation of various green actions in the community. In addition, green literacy aims to increase ecological awareness, develop environmentally friendly skills, strengthen local wisdom, and support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). University libraries and librarians have a strategic role as facilitators, educators, and agents of change in developing green literacy in villages. Therefore, the integration of green literacy into the PKM program is an important step towards realizing an independent, sustainable, and environmentally conscious nagari community.
