Focus and Scope

FISITEK (Jurnal Ilmu Fisika dan Ilmu Teknologi) is a scientific journal that contains the results of research that includes theoretical studies, simulations and modeling, experiments, engineering and exploration in the field of Physics and its Applications. The articles can be written to be submitted in Indonesia and English. The editor receives scientific research results, thoughts and views, reviews, brief communication in the field of physics and its applications. FISITEK is published by the Department of Physics, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. This journal is published regularly as many as twice a year.

Peer Review Process

After a manuscript has been submitted, it will an initial review of the manuscript by the editor of FISITEK. A manuscript will be reviewed to see the suitability of page formats, images, tables, cites, and reference lists as well as systematics article generation. The plagiarism element check is conducted through the Plagiarism Checker.

The review process uses Double-Blind Peer Review. The editor will decide whether the manuscript in accordance with the scope and focus and proper to give to the reviewer. Sometimes, editors may recommend revision before submitting for review. This initial review of activities usually takes a week. Submissions that pass the initial review will be assigned to a reviewer. Based on the reviewer's recommendation, the editor will first make editorial decisions.

There are five possible editorial decisions to a manuscript: (1) be accepted; or (2) be revised; or (3) be re-submit; or (4) be sent to another publisher, or (5) be rejected.

The review process is done for 4-8 weeks. If desired, the reviewer may request to be reviewed again after the author revises his article. The decision about whether the article is accepted or not, fully in the authority of the Managing Editor based on recommendations from reviewers.

 

Publication Frequency

Fisitek is a peer-reviewed journal that is managed and published by physics Department, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara. Fisitek is published periodically (twice a year) in January and July which each issue publish 5-7 articles.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Publication Ethics

This following statement clarifies the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the act of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, the editor, the reviewer, and the publisher (Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara).

Our ethic statements are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

1. General Statement

FISITEK: Jurnal Ilmu Fisika dan Teknologi is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Department of Physics, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. The journal is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout the publication process.

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of authors, reviewers, editors, and the publisher in accordance with the principles and Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

FISITEK upholds the principles of originality, honesty, objectivity, confidentiality, and fairness. All forms of publication misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, and unethical authorship practices, are strictly prohibited.

2. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original manuscripts that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal. All sources, ideas, data, figures, and statements taken from other works must be properly acknowledged and cited. Submitted manuscripts may undergo plagiarism screening, and any suspected violations will be evaluated by the editorial team.

Research Integrity and Data Accuracy

Authors must present accurate and reliable research findings supported by appropriate methods, analyses, and references. Fabrication, falsification, selective manipulation of research data, and misleading interpretations are prohibited. Authors should retain relevant research data and provide supporting information when reasonably requested for editorial verification, subject to ethical and legal restrictions.

Authorship and Contributions

Authorship must reflect significant intellectual contributions to the research. The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission. Contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged.

Conflicts of Interest and Funding

Authors must disclose financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its interpretation. All relevant sources of research funding and institutional support must be acknowledged.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, animals, hazardous materials, or potentially dangerous experimental procedures must comply with applicable ethical and safety regulations. Ethical approval and informed consent must be obtained where required.

Corrections and Author Responsibilities

Authors who identify significant errors or inaccuracies in their submitted or published work must promptly notify the editorial team and cooperate in implementing appropriate corrections or retractions.

3. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers

Objectivity and Scientific Evaluation

Reviewers must evaluate manuscripts objectively, fairly, and constructively based on scientific originality, methodological validity, relevance, and research quality. Personal criticism and discriminatory judgments are unacceptable. Recommendations should be supported by clear scientific arguments.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, distribute, or use unpublished information for personal or professional advantage.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest arising from personal, professional, financial, or institutional relationships and decline assignments that may compromise their impartiality.

Timeliness and Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should complete evaluations within the agreed timeframe and promptly inform editors if they cannot fulfill their responsibilities. Reviewers should also identify relevant uncited references and report substantial similarities with previously published research.

4. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors

Editorial Independence and Publication Decisions

Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on scientific merit, originality, methodological quality, relevance to the journal's scope, and peer-review recommendations. Editorial decisions must remain independent of personal, financial, institutional, or other inappropriate influences.

Fairness and Confidentiality

Editors must evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs. Information concerning submitted manuscripts and editorial correspondence must remain confidential.

Peer Review Integrity

FISITEK implements a double-blind peer-review process. Editors are responsible for selecting qualified reviewers, maintaining the confidentiality of the review process, and ensuring fair and objective evaluations.

Conflicts of Interest and Ethical Oversight

Editors must disclose relevant conflicts of interest and withdraw from handling manuscripts when impartiality may be compromised. Editors must also investigate credible allegations of publication misconduct and take appropriate actions in accordance with established publication ethics principles.

5. Duties and Responsibilities of the Publisher

The Department of Physics, Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, as the publisher of FISITEK, is committed to supporting ethical scholarly publishing and maintaining the integrity of the scientific record.

The publisher supports editorial independence, transparent publication procedures, and the implementation of publication ethics policies. Editorial decisions must not be improperly influenced by financial, institutional, or other external interests.

The publisher and editorial team share responsibility for addressing serious ethical concerns and implementing appropriate corrective measures, including corrections, retractions, or other editorial notices when necessary.

6. Publication Misconduct and Corrective Actions

Handling Allegations of Misconduct

FISITEK does not tolerate plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, inappropriate image manipulation, duplicate publication, authorship manipulation, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other unethical publication practices.

Suspected violations may be reported to the editorial team through the journal's official contact channel. Allegations will be assessed fairly and confidentially based on available evidence and relevant COPE guidance. Individuals involved will be given an appropriate opportunity to respond.

Depending on the findings, editorial actions may include manuscript rejection, requests for clarification, correction notices, expressions of concern, or retractions. Relevant institutions may be contacted when necessary.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

Corrections may be issued when errors affect part of a published article without invalidating its overall findings. Retractions may be issued when findings are unreliable or serious ethical violations are confirmed. Expressions of concern may be published when credible questions regarding the integrity of an article remain unresolved.

All corrective notices should clearly state the reasons for the action and remain linked to the original publication to preserve transparency and the scholarly record.

Complaints, Appeals, and Post-Publication Discussion

Authors, reviewers, and readers may submit complaints, appeals, or scientifically supported concerns regarding editorial decisions, publication procedures, or published articles.

The editorial team will review these matters impartially and take appropriate action where justified. Complaints involving an editor should be handled by another qualified editorial or publisher representative without a relevant conflict of interest.

FISITEK supports constructive post-publication discussion and welcomes evidence-based corrections that improve the accuracy and reliability of published research.

7. Artificial Intelligence and Ethical Compliance

FISITEK recognizes that artificial intelligence (AI) tools may support scientific research and manuscript preparation. However, their use must not compromise originality, accuracy, confidentiality, or research integrity.

Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content, including material prepared with AI assistance. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, and substantive AI assistance must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's policy.

Editors and reviewers must maintain manuscript confidentiality and comply with the journal's requirements concerning AI-assisted editorial and peer-review activities.

All parties involved in the publication process are expected to comply with this Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. FISITEK is committed to periodically reviewing its policies in accordance with COPE principles and applicable scholarly publishing standards.

 

 

Author Fees

FISITEK: Jurnal Ilmu Fisika dan Teknologi does not charge any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, or publication. 

All articles are published free of charge, with no Article Processing Charges (APCs).
