PERAN MASJID AR-RAHMAN TUAN SYEKH SILAU LAUT SEBAGAI PUSAT PERADABAN ISLAM LOKAL DI ASAHAN

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Masjid Ar-Rahman Tuan Syekh Silau Laut sebagai pusat peradaban Islam lokal di Desa Silau Laut, Kabupaten Asahan, khususnya dalam perkembangan dakwah, pendidikan Islam, serta penyebaran Tarekat Syattariyah. Masjid Ar-Rahman tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai tempat ibadah, tetapi juga menjadi pusat aktivitas sosial-keagamaan yang membentuk identitas religius masyarakat setempat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode sejarah sosial, yang meliputi tahapan heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Data diperoleh melalui studi dokumentasi, observasi lapangan, serta wawancara dengan tokoh agama dan masyarakat sekitar yang memiliki keterkaitan dengan sejarah masjid dan jaringan tarekat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Masjid Ar-Rahman memainkan peran strategis dalam pembinaan keagamaan masyarakat melalui kegiatan pengajian, pembelajaran kitab-kitab klasik, serta pendidikan madrasah yang berkontribusi terhadap penguatan literasi Islam lokal. Selain itu, keberadaan Tuan Syekh Abdurrahman sebagai tokoh sentral memperkuat fungsi masjid sebagai pusat penyebaran Tarekat Syattariyah, yang kemudian membentuk pola keberagamaan masyarakat dengan corak sufistik yang moderat. Masjid ini juga menjadi ruang integrasi sosial yang mempertemukan berbagai lapisan masyarakat serta melahirkan tradisi keagamaan yang terus diwariskan hingga kini. Dengan demikian, Masjid Ar-Rahman dapat dipahami sebagai institusi penting dalam pembentukan peradaban Islam lokal yang tidak hanya berorientasi pada ritual, tetapi juga pada penguatan pendidikan dan transformasi sosial masyarakat Asahan.
