Abstract

This research aims to analyze the response of coffee shop traders to the use of Electronic Money (E-Money) in buying and selling transactions and identify the obstacles faced by coffee shop entrepreneurs in implementing a payment system using e-money. The method used is a qualitative method by gathering information with informants through direct observation and interviews. The research location was carried out at five leading coffee shops in Langsa City, namely SAMS Coffee, Kopi Sui, Kopi Kay, Sedotan Kopi, and Skala Coffee. The research results show that coffee shop traders have realized the importance of implementing a payment system using E-Money in coffee shops because it makes it easier for consumers to make payments without carrying cash. However, there are several obstacles faced by traders, namely electricity instability, unreliable internet network, and system maintenance problems. This situation means that E-Money cannot be used by both traders and customers when there is a power failure, poor internet network problem, or when the system needs maintenance. A reliable solution is needed to overcome these obstacles in order to increase the adoption and efficiency of using E-Money in buying and selling transactions in the coffee shop trading environment.
