Author Guidelines

The editor of Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences welcomes article submissions in accordance with the following guidelines:

  1. Articles have not been published or accepted for publication, or are being considered for publication elsewhere. In addition to the manuscript, a written statement should be attached which clarifies that the article is original and does not contain any elements of plagiarism.
  2. Types of articles suitable for publication include the following: research reports and conceptual ideas.
  3. Article: a) is possible in English; b) uses Palatino Linotype 12-pt font; c) is in 1.0 spacing line; and d) is no longer than 12-20 pages or 4000 - 7000 words (including bibliography)
  4. Articles should be in the form of an essay which includes abstract of maximum 250 words and approximately five keywords that define the paper's subject. The paper contains an introduction (background, objectives, and problems), methods, Result and Discussion (analysis), conclusions, and references.
  5. The citation is required to write down for the reference section. The citation is written in Bodynote and in Format Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition style (fullnote). Example: Lofland, J., & Lofland, L. H. (1984). Analyzing Social Settings: A Guide to Qualitative Observation and Analysis. Belmont California: Wadsworth Pub. Co.
  6. The editor appreciates if authors excerpt information from previously published articles in Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences.
  7. Articles should be submitted in soft files using Microsoft Word application to the Online Submission page.
  8. Manuscripts to be published must meet the requirements and eligibility through stages that have been determined by the editor, namely: an examination of articles entered by the editor, correspondence between editors and writers, review of articles by reviewers, editing by editors, and publication of articles.
  9. Manuscripts that are rejected will be returned to the author with written notice from the editor.
  10. During the process of sending the manuscript to publication, the author will receive: a statement has sent the manuscript, a form letter of willingness to publish the manuscript, and a letter of receipt has paid the cost of publication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

1. Author(s)'s Warranties

The author warrants that the article is original, written by the stated author(s), has not been published before, contains no unlawful statements, does not infringe the rights of others, is subject to copyright that is vested exclusively in the author, and free of any third-party rights, and that any necessary written permissions to quote from other sources have been obtained by the author(s). 

2. Right of Authors

Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences allows the author(s) to hold the copyright. Authors retain all their rights to the published works, such as (but not limited to) the following rights:

  • Reproduce the work.
  • Prepare derivative works based on the work.
  • Distribute copies of the work.
  • Perform the work publicly.
  • Display the work publicly.
  • Copyright and other proprietary rights relating to the article, such as patent rights.
  • The right to self-archive the article (please read our Repository Policy).
  • The right to enter separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the article's published version (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

3. Co-Authorship

If the article was jointly prepared by other authors, any author submitting the manuscript warrants that he/she has been authorized by all co-authors to be agreed on this copyright and license notice (agreement) on their behalf and agrees to inform his/her co-authors of the terms of this policy. Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences will not be held liable for anything that may arise due to the author(s) internal dispute. Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences will only communicate with the corresponding author.

4. Royalties

This agreement entitles the author to no royalties or other fees. To such extent as legally permissible, the author waives his or her right to collect royalties relative to the article in respect of any use of the article by Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences.

5. User/Public Right

Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences's spirit is to disseminate articles published as free as possible. Under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International LicenseAl-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences permits users to share, copy, redistribute, display, and perform the material in any medium or format. Adapt, remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially. Users will also need to attribute authors and Al-Mujtama’: Journal of Social Sciences to distributing works in the journal and other media of publication.
