Sikap dan Kepatuhan Ibu Mengkonsumsi Tablet Zat Besi terhadap Berat badan lahir Rendah di Puskesmas Lao
Abstract
Low birth weight (LBW) remains a significant global public health concern, with approximately 15–20% of newborns worldwide classified as LBW. Maternal iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy is a primary contributing factor. Additionally, mothers with a history of delivering LBW infants often demonstrate lower adherence to iron (Fe) supplementation guidelines. This study investigated the influence of maternal attitudes and adherence to iron tablet intake on the incidence of LBW among pregnant women at the Lao Community Health Center. Methods: A cross-sectional research design was utilized in December 2024 at the Lao Community Health Center. Due to the total population being fewer than 100 individuals, a total sampling technique was applied. The study included pregnant women, and data were analyzed using the Chi-square statistical test. Results: There was a statistically significant association between maternal attitudes and the incidence of LBW (p = 0.008). Adherence to iron tablet supplementation was also significantly related to LBW occurrence (p = 0.028). These findings indicate that both maternal attitudes and compliance with iron tablet supplementation associated with the likelihood of low birth weight among pregnant women at the Lao Community Health Center.
