Representation of Ibu Pertiwi in the Video Clip “Wonderland Indonesia 2” : Kristeva’s Intertextuality Analysis

Video klip sebagai media komunikasi yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan sebuah lagu melalui produksi visual dan dramatisasi adegan, kini telah menjadi media representasi fenomena sosial dan budaya melalui sistem tanda operasional, seperti yang terlihat pada video klip Wonderland Indonesia 2. Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengungkap bagaimana Ibu Pertiwi direpresentasikan dalam Wonderland Indonesia 2 melalui semiotika intertekstual Julia Kristeva, dengan mengidentifikasi bentuk-bentuk intertekstualitas yang muncul dalam video klip dan menginterpretasikan makna representasi Ibu Pertiwi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan adegan-adegan yang relevan dengan representasi Ibu Pertiwi, seperti gerakan, kostum, dan teknik sinematik, serta konstruksi cerita. Terdapat tiga adegan yang secara intertekstual merujuk pada Ibu Pertiwi seperti yang ditemukan dalam teks-teks Sanskerta di Indonesia dan teks-teks mitologi lainnya di dunia. Kemudian terdapat enam adegan dalam bentuk plot adegan intertekstual yang merujuk pada citra Ibu Pertiwi sebagaimana terdapat dalam teks sejarah nasional, yaitu tiga adegan yang merujuk pada “Pembakaran Desa oleh Jenderal Militer Spoor” dan tiga adegan yang merujuk pada cuplikan dari lagu kebangsaan “Kulihat Ibu Pertiwi”. Beberapa studi sebelumnya telah membahas representasi identitas nasional dan budaya dalam media visual digital. Dengan demikian, temuan penelitian ini memperluas cakupan studi identitas visual dalam budaya digital Indonesia dan memperkuat relevansi teori intertekstualitas dalam membaca konstruksi simbolik di ruang media baru.
Abstract
Video clips as a communication media used to convey the message of a song through visual production and dramatization of scenes, have now become a medium of representation of social and cultural phenomena through the operational signs system, as it appears in the Wonderland Indonesia 2 video clip. This study aims to analyze and reveal how Ibu Pertiwi is represented in the Wonderland Indonesia 2 through Julia Kristeva’s intertextual semiotics, by identifying the forms of intertextuality that appear in the video clip and interpreting the meaning of the representation of Ibu Pertiwi. The results of the study show that scenes relevant to the representation of Ibu Pertiwi were found, such as movements, costumes, and cinematic techniques, as well as story construction. There are three scenes that intertextually refer to the Ibu Pertiwi as found in Sanskrit texts in Indonesia and other mythological texts in the world. Then there are six scenes in the form of intertextual scene plots referring to the image of Ibu Pertiwi as found in the nation's historical text, namely three scenes referring to “The Burning of the Village by the Military General Spoor” and three scenes referring to excerpts from the national song “Kulihat Ibu Pertiwi”. Several previous studies have discussed the representation of national and cultural identity in digital visual media. Thus, the findings of this study broaden the scope of the study of visual identity in Indonesian digital culture and strengthen the relevance of intertextuality theory in reading symbolic constructions in new media spaces.Keywords
