Beragama Kontekstual dan Prinsip Dasar Modernisasi: Antara Pembaharuan dan Pemurnian

Abstract

There are verses in the Qur’an that explain the need for renewal and there are verses that require interpretation. Interpretation is dynamic and changes. Because the Qur’an is the first signal of the necessity of modernization, it is important to understand the basic principles of modernization so that religion is more contextual. This article applies the library research research model with a philosophical approach and analytical descriptive presentation style. The results of the research are; First, modernization in Islam must be subject to the Qur’an and the explanation of the contents of the Qur’an is intended so that Muslims are able to harmonize their lives with the times. Second, the renewal method of Muslim modernists cannot be separated from the Qur;an as its flesh and blood. Third, because reform is an effort to make the existence of religion more contextual, Muslim modernists are required to understand the Qur’an and scientific development in depth. Fourth, modernization activities in Islam intend to return to the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith.
