Abstract

This research is motivated by the many political thoughts of people in a region regarding identity politics. The ideas or thoughts of those who are too young are instigated or sensitive and easily provoked, so things like this are prone to conflict because identity politics, instead of uniting the nation, instead divides groups. This should also be a reference for political policies determined by society. This research uses a qualitative method (Field Research: Field Research) which is descriptive in nature using primary data sources, namely interviews with the Mandailing community in Sinunukan district regarding ethnic identity politics. The aim of the research is to find out how to understand the phenomenon and solutions to overcome this.
