INOVASI BISNIS DAN KEWIRAUSAHAAN STARTUP DALAM PERSPEKTIF SYARIAH: SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW PERIODE 2013–2023

Ahmad Husein, Muhammad Solih Batubara

Abstract

This study aims to map and synthesize the development of research on business innovation and startup entrepreneurship from a Sharia perspective during the 2013–2023 period. The study employs a systematic literature review (SLR) approach in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 reporting guidelines. The search focused on scientific literature discussing Islamic entrepreneurship, Muslim entrepreneurship, halal entrepreneurship, business innovation, entrepreneurial innovation, and new business development in contexts relevant to Sharia principles. Literature was selected based on substantive relevance, metadata traceability, and source quality. The synthesis results indicate that the literature from this period developed along four main streams: the conceptualization of Islamic entrepreneurship; innovation and entrepreneurial capabilities in halal businesses; the influence of values and religiosity on business behavior and innovation; and the development of new business opportunities through the halal ecosystem, including halal tourism. The literature also demonstrates that the Sharia perspective not only serves as a boundary for compliance regarding business objects and transactions but can also function as a value orientation in the creation, development, and evaluation of innovations. However, there are limitations in the integration between startup-specific literature and the framework of Islamic entrepreneurship. Most studies focus on MSMEs or halal entrepreneurs and have not consistently distinguished the characteristics of startups as organizations oriented toward growth, business model experimentation, and scalability. This study positions business innovation in sharia-compliant startups as a cross-thematic field that links entrepreneurial orientation, Islamic values, innovation capabilities, and sustainability
