AKTIVITAS BIOLOGIS METABOLIT SEKUNDER PADA TANAMAN UMBI DAN POTENSINYA DALAM APLIKASI INDUSTRI, FARMASI, DAN PANGAN

Abstract


Tuber crops such as cassava (Manihot esculenta), potato (Solanum tuberosum), taro (Colocasia esculenta), cocoyam (Xanthosoma sagittifolium), and sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) represent important genetic resources with significant potential for utilization across multiple sectors. This study aims to identify metabolites, biological activities, and the utilization of tuber crops through a literature review approach. The results indicate that each plant exhibits diverse metabolite profiles with various biological activities, including phytotoxic, antioxidant, and other functional properties. This metabolic diversity reflects the potential of genetic resources for applications in industrial, pharmaceutical, and food sectors, particularly due to their starch content and phytochemical compounds. Therefore, tuber crops have strong potential to be developed as economically valuable, functional, and sustainable genetic resources.
