JIPI (Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi) is a peer-reviewed and open access journal of Library and Information Science published by the Library and Information Science Department of Social Sciences Faculty, State Islamic University of Sumatera Utara (UIN Sumatera Utara) Medan. The journal covers all issues in librarianship and information studies. The coverage of the discussion in librarianship may be viewed from various perspectives of disciplines. JIPI is intended to be published twice a year in May and November.

From the beginning of its publication in 2016, JIPI has been registered with Crossref. All articles published by JIPI have a DOI number. JIPI is also indexed by Google Scholar, Garuda, Moraref, BASE, and more indexing.

In 2018, JIPI has been accredited by the Decree of the General Director of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia. This accreditation is effective from publication Vol 3. No 1. 2018 (Sinta 4). In 2020, JIPI has been reaccredited by Decree of the General Director of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia SK: 204/E/KPT/2022, Started from Vol 5. No 1. 2020 until Vol 9. No 2. 2024 (Sinta 4).

In 2025, JIPI has been reaccredited by Decree of the General Director of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia SK: 204/E/KPT/2025, Started from Vol 9. No 2. 2024 until Vol 12. No 2. 2028 (SINTA 3).
