SAVINGS EDUCATION AS AN EFFORT TO FOSTER FRUGAL BEHAVIOR AMONG CHILDREN AT SDN 091416 AFDELING 1

Abstract

Saving is one of the positive habits that should be introduced to children from an early age to foster frugal behavior and develop good financial management skills. However, many children still lack an understanding of the importance of setting aside part of their allowance for future needs. Therefore, students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) conducted a savings education program at SDN 091416 Afdeling 1 to improve students' understanding and encourage the development of saving habits. The program was carried out through interactive presentations, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and simple examples of how to manage pocket money and the benefits of saving in everyday life. Throughout the activity, the students showed great enthusiasm by actively participating in the learning process and discussions. The results indicated an improvement in students' understanding of the importance of saving, their ability to distinguish between needs and wants, and their motivation to regularly set aside a portion of their pocket money. This educational activity is expected to serve as an initial step in fostering saving habits and frugal behavior from an early age, while also supporting the development of discipline, responsibility, and financial awareness among elementary school students.
