ETHICS OF CONFIDENTIALITY IN COUNSELING, LITERATURE STUDY ON CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

Abstract

This article aims to examine in depth the ethical aspects of confidentiality in counseling practice, focusing on the challenges faced and the solutions that can be applied. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach, which involves the collection and analysis of various secondary sources such as books, scientific journals, articles, and research reports related to the ethics of confidentiality in counseling. The references used come from relevant and reliable academic works, which provide a theoretical and empirical basis for understanding the issue of confidentiality in the context of counseling. The results of the study indicate that confidentiality is a major pillar in building trust between counselors and clients, but its practice faces various challenges such as legal pressure, professional ethics, and the development of information technology that affects data privacy. The proposed solutions include strengthening ethical regulations, training counselors in maintaining confidentiality, using safe technology, and developing policies that are responsive to social and technological dynamics. Thus, this article makes an important contribution to the development of ethical and professional counseling practices, as well as being a reference for practitioners and academics in dealing with the complexity of confidentiality ethics in the modern era.
